Royalton Memorial Library

Royalton Select board member Phil Gates’ wife Cindy was the chair of the Royalton Memorial Library. When the Royalton Municipal Building that I designed for Royalton was under construction, Phil suggested to Cindy that they hire me to renovate the 100 year old library to add an addition to make it fully handicapped accessible and renovate the lower floor for a new children’s library. We added an addition with a new ground floor entrance at the same level as the lower floor in the main building seen on the left side of the rendering below. A bright stairway and a new elevator serving both floors were added along with two new handicapped accessible restrooms – one on each floor.

Joslin Memorial Library

Joslin Memorial Library, Waitsfield, Vermont When the Waitsfield Municipal Offices moved to a new building we designed a restoration of the second floor of the library to include a new fireplace seen in the rendering below. We also added energy efficient mini-split air heat pump and air conditioners, and added LED lights to the historic skylight, so it lights the room after dark. We also removed the carpet, restoring the wood floors, and softening the room with oriental style rugs and more comfortable furniture. Rendering below shows the restored space.
